You've never heard of Marion Square. They are four young musicians from Louisville, Kentucky who have been hard at work on their music for the last few years. But the time has come for Marion Square to break out of the hometown and onto the world stage. A few words to describe Marion Square: atmospheric, electroacoustic, at times mellow, other times intense, but always melodic. Their sound and approach to making music recalls the seventies. McCall Cruse leads the band with a vocal that is feminine and strong, a true rock singer for both the guys and the girls. Their material leaves one wondering how a group of artists so young can express a musicality so refined. No hype, no gimmicks, no press angle. Just four young musicians making their music, quietly insistent that there is a place in the world for their voice.

Its almost 10 oclock in the morning and i'm here at my dads house helping him attend to my poppy while he is at work. I'm awful tired but my only job watching poppy is to try and keep him awake so that he doesnt sleep all day and stay awake all night. Its actually a lot harder than one would think keeping a nearly 90 year old man from sleepign the day away! I usually have to give him little tasks to do throughout the day spread out enough so that he cant get on the couch adn sleep for any period of time. So far today he has fed the dogs, taken out the trash (thats his favorite thing to do) and eaten breakfast (he didnt understand why his soup was cold, but thats because he was eating cold cereal...i think he thinks i was feeding him cold bad soup!).
My topic of disgussion today is how much growing up sucks! Recently my parents decided that i should take on the responsabilities of all my bills (due to an unplanned...something or other!). SO now that i'm taking care of all the things that grown ups have to take care of (car insucance, health insurance, etc etc...) i find myself worrying about money much more than i ever have! I have some things coming up in my future to which i would really like to and need to have a LOT of money saved up! its hard to save money when i am too busy to get another job (thank god because it means i'm busy with Marion Square stuff) ! I am teachign voice lessons which i really enjoy doing, but it is getting harder and harder to schedule different students on differetn days when i'm gone most the week touring and working with my band!
Oh well, i guess the moral of the story is that life is all about balance. If i can some how balance out being in the band, teachign voice lessons, paying bill after bill, and somehow saving money too then i will be all set! Easier said than done!!
Well, i'm off to try and talk to poppy for the one millionth time today about where he is, where dad has "gone off to", why he cant take the trash out to the curb yet (thats a whole other story), and try to keep him awake! Maybe he can play me alittle guitar (he loves playing the guitar!) Peace,
